The Fall Musical: Songs for a New World

Kiley Williams, Staff Writer

Every year members of the Ursuline Upper School put on a fall musical. Past performances include The Sound of Music, Once on this Island, and Bright Star. This year proved to be a challenge with the pandemic. Most high schools have not done any musicals, plays, or concerts. Determined to keep arts alive at Ursuline during the pandemic, Mr. Louden chose Songs for a New World. This show is a collection of stories, with no over-arching plot. Each song tells a different story of a different character. There were many new rules and regulations we had to work through to be as safe as possible. All rehearsal was outside and socially distanced. Masks were required to be on the entire time, even when singing.  The musical was on October 23, 24, and 25. Sunday the 25th was rescheduled for Thursday the 5th due to rain. There was a good turnout and many people came to the Cool Springs Reservoir to see the performance. Ursuline’s theatre program was able to work through the pandemic and give people entertainment.
